Congratulations to David Audretsch and Randall Baker, both IUB: Audretsch will be elevated to the rank of Distinguished Professor, the most prestigious academic appointment Indiana University can offer an individual. Baker has been named recipient of the John W. Ryan Award, which honors Indiana University faculty members for exceptional contributions to the University’s international programs and studies.

Congratulations to Crystal Garcia and Roger Jarjoura, both IUPUI, for winning the Indiana Council for Continuing Education’s Course of the Year Award for their course, “Employment after Prison: Strategies and Best Practices.”

Beth Gazley, IUB, won the drawing for our Fabulous Prize Package. Beth responded to the @Large survey and won a SPEA t-shirt, SPEA Business cardholder, SPEA Canvas Bag, SPEA globe paperweight, SPEA Water bottle, SPEA Travel mug, SPEA Umbrella, SPEA Picture frame/clock, and SPEA stadium blanket. Thank you to all who participated.

Congratulations John Mikesell, IUB, for being chosen as a Chancellor’s Professor. This award is given to faculty members who have achieved local, national, and international distinction in both teaching and research/creative activity and their interaction.

Jim Perry, IUB, received the Dwight Waldo Award from The American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) in Dallas last week. The award is presented to persons who have made outstanding contributions to the professional literature of public administration over an extended career. Waldo is considered the father of modern public administration.

Todd Royer, IUB, received a $650,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to examine the interactions of dissolved organic matter, bacterial genetic diversity, and denitrification rates in nitrogen-rich streams and rivers. The four-year project will begin during the summer of 2008.

Congratulations to Roy Shin, IUB, was appointed as the inaugural president of the Association of Korean American Professors on the Bloomington campus.
