Announcements

On March 8 and 9, Randall Baker, IUB, started a new venture with the African Studies Department. The course, G731 is an examination of globalization, regionalization, and challenges to sovereignty with reference to the United States and the Republic of South Africa, and his gift to IU. The course will be taught in partnership with the University of Pretoria through teleconferencing. The new course is to be found on the Web at www.spea.indiana.edu/bakerr/courses.htm. Professor Baker will be visiting Pretoria in July as part of the American Studies link with IU.

Kirsten Grønbjerg, IUB, was invited to testify before the Indiana Senate Judiciary Committee on H.B. 1367—a bill that would provide immunity protection to small non-profit organizations.

Les Lenkowsky, IUB and IUPUI, participated in a special class on Hurricane Katrina at IUPUI on March 6.

David Reingold, IUB, was a panelist at an Urban Institute event entitled “Reconnecting Disadvantaged Young Men” on March 7 in Washington, DC.

Susan Zinner, IUN, chaired a session at the Association of Practical and Professional Ethics conference in Jacksonville, Florida on March 3.
