Professor Ryan teaches comparative public policy analysis, comparative university organization and policy, and general public administration courses. Special attention is given topically to higher education and governmental organization, and geographically to Southeast Asia and Central and East European countries.
Recent professional writing has concerned urban university international missions and the organization options for universities and their systems.
Professional activity includes: (1) counsel for management training in Central and East Europe (to AID), (2) consultant on intercollegiate athletics policy (to NCAA), and (3) advisor on international activity for universities (to NASULGC and the Joint Office of One DuPont Circle). Dr. Ryan's most recent consultant activity is as Chief of Party for the City of Knowledge in Panama.
Professor Ryan writes, speaks, and counsels, upon request, on questions of university organization, finance, governance, and intercollegiate athletics.
