Birch Bayh Public Service Scholarship
The scholarship honors former United States Senator Birch Bayh’s exceptional career in public
service and his leadership to the State of Indiana and the United States of America. P.A. Mack, the Senator’s former Chief of Staff and close
friend for more than 50 years, established the Birch Bayh Public Service Scholarship as a
tribute to Bayh’s many accomplishments and to encourage future generations of students to
follow in the Senator’s footsteps. Bayh served his home state of Indiana as a U.S. Senator
from 1962 to 1980, authoring two Constitutional Amendments, and served the State as a member
of the Indiana House of Representatives from 1954-1962. Bayh continues to promote his long-held passions for education and citizen rights.
